The “Meet CEC Business Advisors” series features CEC partner organisations who play a crucial role in our support for the entrepreneurship ecosystem and especially circular businesses.
WYLDE International is a strategy and entrepreneurship firm that equips and empowers entrepreneurs and their support institutions to succeed. The company offers an entrepreneurship support model to SMEs to equip them with the knowledge and skills in terms of market assessment, business model validation, value proposition formulation, client acquisition and retention, coaching support, and leadership and management skills. It also provides institutions that support entrepreneurs with technical services in project management, investor readiness, access to finance, and research.
How does your organisation support circular enterprises?
WYLDE International offers diagnostic services to collect data on missing gaps of business growth; strategic training and development workshops tailor-made for the entrepreneurs; coaching support and accountability through various touch points, both virtually and in-person; and access into our networks for networking opportunities and additional unique business support.
In your opinion, what is the positive impact of providing support to circular SMEs?
Supporting circular SMEs increases their chances of successes and reduces their failure rate of 3 years or 7years and ensures that they have support and accountability as opposed to a lonely entrepreneurship journey of a circular economy. Moreover, it strengthens the entrepreneurship ecosystem with a variety of value chains and encourages others to onboard onto various supply chains components of circularity.
What do you like the most about the collaboration with adelphi’s Circular Economy Catalyst? Is there a topic you especially enjoy from the workshops?
This collaboration offers an opportunity for equipping the WYLDE International team not only with new skills and knowledge for delivering trainings, but also international exposure for new tools to provide effective support to the SMEs in the ecosystem. In addition, we receive accountability support for evaluation with continued growth of various levels of training.
Is there a topic you especially enjoy from the workshops?
Three topics that we find particularly impactful are: Value Proposition, without which there would be no business sustainability on the part of the SMEs; Partners Analysis, which introduces various stakeholders important to circular SMEs; and Theory of Change, which allows SMEs to shift their thinking and align their business models to circular economy impact patterns.
What is your vision for the future of circular SMEs and the support ecosystem in your country?
The future of circular SMEs requires support for SMEs in the ecosystem so that impact reflects increased revenue for the chosen value chains. There is also a need for continuous and consistent knowledge gap assessment and training to ensure both understanding and implementation. In addition, it is important to consider all the relevant stakeholders in the country's ecosystem when implementing multiple interventions.
What more can we do together? Future outlook
We look forward to continuous training, both locally and internationally, for the WYLDE training team, especially in terms of circular economy knowledge and skills. Furthermore, we also want to engage with global stakeholders to explore interventions that can be shared with local stakeholders.
